- Kickoff: 17:00 UK / 18.00 CEST
- Venue: Philips Stadion (Eindhoven)
In pursuit of their first trophy this season, Eredivisie champions PSV Eindhoven will take on KNVB Cup holders Feyenoord in the Dutch Super Cup final at Philips Stadion on Sunday.
The Eindhoven giants will be vying for a record-extending 15th Johan Cruyff Shield trophy as a result of last season's outstanding Eredivisie campaign in which they effortlessly marched to the championship title, dropping just 11 points and winning 29 of their 34 top-flight matches. Ahead of the weekend's showpiece match, Peter Bosz's men are carrying good momentum from the pre-season, having emerged victorious in three of their last four friendly outings, with their most recent win coming against LaLiga outfit Valencia, thanks to Ismael Saibari's brace in a 2-1 triumph.
For their part, Feyenoord has set up a showpiece encounter with record-holders PSV based on their successful KNVB Beker campaign during which they overcame every obstacle to lift the domestic cup trophy for the 14th time in the club's history. Following the conclusion of the 2023-24 season, the Rotterdam-based team bid farewell to Arne Slot, who moved to Liverpool, and brought in Brian Priske as his replacement. However, the Danish coach was not pleased with his team’s recent performances, watching them suffer back-to-back losses in warm-ups against Benfica and Monaco, conceding an astonishing eight goals in the process.
PSV Eindhoven vs Feyenoord Betting Tips: UNDER 2.5
In a repeat of last year's Dutch Super Cup final—which the Eindhoven club settled in their favour with Noah Lang's solitary strike—PSV will look to continue their reign in the competition and capture the trophy for the fourth year running. Peter Bosz's men are upbeat and self-assured about kicking off the new season with a festive spirit, as they can boast a successful record against Feyenoord in Johan Cruyff Shield encounters, surpassing them in four of the last five occassions.
It's important to point out, however, that their encounters in this event tend to be subdued and unappealing, as none of the previous six have exceeded the 2.5-goal barrier—four of these ended with a single strike, one was decided by a penalty following a 0-0 stalemate, and only one featured two goals in PSV's triumph in the 2008-09 season. Interestingly, one of Feyenoord's hurdles on their way to the KNVB Beker trophy was the Eindhoven club, whom they sent home with a slim 1-0 victory, getting revenge on them for the domestic super cup. Despite possessing a formidable attacking arsenal, we remain convinced that the trend of low productivity will persist and that their Johan Cruyff Shield contest will once again see the sides separated by a solitary effort.

PSV Eindhoven team news
PSV's quest for a fourth consecutive Johan Cruyff Shield will proceed without the contributions of summer signing Sergino Dest (ACL) and Noa Lang (hamstring), the man who brought the trophy last season with a solitary strike.
21-year-old Ryan Flamingo, who moved to the Philips Stadion from Utrecht this summer, could earn a place at the heart of the defense after the Eindhoven club parted ways with regular Andre Ramalho.

Feyenoord team news
As they head into Sunday’s final, the Rotterdam club faces more injury worries compared to the Eindhoven giants, with their defensive line severely affected by the absences of Gernot Trauner, Quilindschy Hartman, and Gijs Smal.
Quinten Timber, who is struggling with an ankle injury, will also be unavailable for Brian Priske's roster and summer acquisition Anis Hadj Moussa will be hoping to get a call-up to start.
