Since entering the Allsvenskan in 2017, Sirius have been mostly in the middle part of the league's table. Last year was their best one since the arrival as they collected 42 points and finished 8th, but still eight points away from the European spots. This year, after 17 rounds, Sirius are on pace for another similar finish as they are in 8th place with 24 points - 1.41 points per game, compared to last season's 1.4 ppg. Still, European spots are not that far because they could secure it from fourth place depending on the Cup results. That fourth place is just five points away right now, and since they will have a pretty easy schedule in the upcoming games, Sirius could move further up.

Kalmar are playing their 21st consecutive season in Allsvenskan, where they had their ups and downs. From winning the title in 2008 to finishing in the relegation playout in 2019 in 2020. Then, when it seemed they stabilized after finishing fourth and sixth (twice) in the following seasons, Kalmar are having an atrocious season. Right now, they are 15th with 16 points, but the safe zone is only three points away. After the Sirius game, they will face the worst team in the league, Vasteras, and with two good results, they will probably escape the danger zone.

Since the Summer break, they are playing well, especially on the offensive end as they managed to score 13 goals in five games. Kalmar generally struggles on the defensive end this season, and with Norrkopiing, they have the worst defensive record with 37 conceded goals - 2.17 per game.
