Wrexham make their first appearance in England's third tier for over 15 years this weekend when they host Wycombe.

The hosts enjoyed a memorable campaign in the Fifth Division last season. Phil Parkinson's side were promoted after finishing second in Football League Two with 88 points, and had the fourth-best defence out of 24 teams. The Red Dragons also enjoyed a great pre-season, drawing with Premier League sides Bournemouth and Chelsea before beating Vancouver 4-1 and Fleetwood 1-0.

Wycombe meanwhile will be competing in Football League One for the fourth consecutive season. The Blues finished seventh last season after consecutive top-five finishes. They'll be hoping for another leap up the table this term, but their pre-season campaign was not a great one with two defeats from three games.

One of Wrexham's biggest strengths last season was their attack. In fact, the Red Dragons scored 17 goals in their last five competitive matches. Unfortunately, they often struggle to find the net against Wycombe. Only one of the last five meetings between these two sides has produced more than two goals.

Wycombe ended last season with some very close games and that pattern has continued in the pre-season. Three of the visitors' last four matches ended in a one-goal affair and I am expecting a similar outcome this weekend.
